Band Setup: Why Faster Isn’t Always Better

New shooters often chase speed.

Thicker bands. Shorter draw. Maximum energy.

At first, this feels impressive. The shot hits hard. The release feels powerful.

But accuracy often suffers.

High-power setups demand perfect control. Small inconsistencies in anchor or release become exaggerated. Fatigue arrives faster, and groups begin to open.

Experienced shooters usually move in the opposite direction over time.

They search for efficiency instead of raw force.

A well-balanced band setup should feel smooth during draw and calm during release. The goal is repeatability — being able to shoot the same shot again and again without strain.

A slightly slower setup that you can control will outperform an aggressive setup you fight against.

In practice shooting, comfort produces accuracy far more reliably than speed.
